After scoring 10 goals in the Premier League for Aston Villa this season, El Ghazi had high hopes of making the tournament. Bergwijn, on the other hand, has battled for Spurs and will be devastated to be left out.
Virgil van Dijk, a Liverpool defender who ruled himself out of consideration earlier this month, is another notable exclusion. UEFA has confirmed that instead of the traditional 23-man squads, national teams would be able to select 26 players to Euro 2020.
